In a social media post, Mudavadi described the visit as a moment of reflection and admiration for Ida Odinga’s resilience.
“I visited Mama Dr. Ida Odinga this morning — days after we laid Baba to rest. Her strength, grace, and calm spirit are deeply moving,” she wrote.
Mudavadi added that in Ida Odinga, one can see “the true heart of resilience, a woman who has stood beside history, guided a family, and held a nation together through it all.”
The visit, which included a delegation of Kisii leaders led by Former Governor, offered an opportunity to console Mama Ida Odinga and honor the life and legacy of the late Raila Odinga.“We continue to celebrate Baba’s remarkable life and legacy. May God continue to comfort, strengthen, and surround her with love,” Mudavadi said.
Raila Odinga passed away on October 15 in India while undergoing treatment. He was laid to rest on October 19 at his ancestral home in Bondo following a state funeral attended by national and international dignitaries.
The revered opposition leader, who succumbed to cardiac arrest at the age of 80, was accorded full military honors. He was buried with his trademark hat and flywhisk, symbols of the legacy he leaves behind.
Mudavadi’s visit reflects the nation’s ongoing mourning and the deep respect and admiration that Raila Odinga and his family continue to command across Kenya.
