Police in Kisii County have opened investigations into a tragic incident involving a trainee teacher who took his own life at Naikuru Secondary School in Nyacheki, Bobasi.
The teacher, who was on teaching practice at Nyabiosi SDA Secondary School, had accompanied colleagues to Naikuru for sports activities.
Reports by Kisii-based radio station indicate that he had earlier been given a car by senior teachers, but the vehicle was later involved in an accident.
Sources say the accident sparked tension, and the trainee teacher was allegedly assaulted by some of his seniors. Shortly after the confrontation, he was found dead within the school compound.
Officers from Nyacheki Police Station documented the scene and moved the body to a nearby mortuary as investigations continue.
Detectives are now working to establish the exact circumstances that led to the young teacher’s death, including claims of assault and pressure from colleagues.
Police have assured the public that all angles will be investigated, including the alleged assault, to ensure justice is served.
