Tanzanian gospel group Neema Gospel Choir has broken its silence after delivering an energetic performance at the lavish white wedding of President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, and her Tanzanian husband, Isaya Yunge, in Mwanza.
The popular award-winning choir, which received an exclusive invitation to entertain guests at the high-profile celebration, expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing its participation in the wedding as a special moment.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the group acknowledged the invitation and shared a message of appreciation after performing before an audience that included prominent Kenyan and Tanzanian personalities.
The singers thanked God for opening the door for them to perform at the wedding, where they entertained the invited guests with some of their popular gospel hits.
“God is good,” the choir wrote, expressing its appreciation for the opportunity to be part of the celebrations.
Videos shared online captured the group in its element as it took to the performance area, delivering spirited renditions of some of its best-known songs and setting an upbeat tone among guests.
One of the tracks featured in the performance was Lango Limefunguliwa, which the choir delivered with lively vocals and carefully coordinated movements. The group’s soloists took turns leading the performances, while instrumentalists accompanied them on the piano and guitars, adding depth to the live presentation.
The singers also displayed well-rehearsed choreography, moving in sync as they engaged the audience and maintained the energy throughout their performance.
Some guests were seen rising from their seats and joining the performers on the dance floor, with the gospel presentation turning into a moment of collective celebration.
In a separate Facebook post, Neema Gospel Choir disclosed that it performed close to five of its popular chart-topping songs during the wedding.
Among the tracks it mentioned were Urejesho and Mungu Anw apendelea, adding to the list of gospel selections that formed part of its musical offering at the event.
Lavish Mwanza wedding
Neema Gospel Choir performed at the wedding held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at the luxurious Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza, Tanzania, the groom’s home region.
The beachfront venue, overlooking Lake Victoria, provided the setting for the couple’s white wedding, with the ceremony featuring an elaborate outdoor arrangement complete with a long mirrored walkway, white floral decorations and a grand arch adorned with cascading roses.
Charlene made her entrance in a detailed white wedding gown featuring floral embellishments, long sleeves and a sweeping veil. She was escorted down the aisle by her parents, President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto, in one of the ceremony’s most memorable family moments.
Isaya, a Tanzanian entrepreneur, waited at the altar in formal wedding attire as the couple exchanged vows before a minister from Africa Inland Church Tanzania.
The ceremony brought together relatives, friends, political leaders and senior government officials from both countries. Among the prominent Kenyan personalities who attended were National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.
Other guests included Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and Ida Odinga, alongside members of the Ruto and Yunge families.
The celebrations also incorporated elements of the groom’s Sukuma heritage, with traditional dancers welcoming the newlyweds through energetic performances accompanied by drums and cultural music. Charlene and Isaya later joined the dancers, with the groom taking the lead as the bride attempted some of the traditional moves.
The entertainment and cultural displays reflected the coming together of the Kenyan and Tanzanian families, with the celebrations featuring performances and moments drawn from both sides of the couple’s heritage.
The Mwanza ceremony marked the culmination of several months of wedding preparations, following the couple’s traditional Kalenjin engagement ceremony, known as Koito, held on August 8, 2026, at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.
