A driver is currently fighting for his life following a horrific road accident that occurred along the Thika Superhighway on Saturday morning.
The crash involved a Subaru and a lorry, with preliminary reports indicating that the private vehicle allegedly rammed into the rear of the lorry under circumstances that are still under investigation.
Photos shared on Facebook by Sikika Road Safety showed the Subaru extensively damaged after the collision. The images painted a grim picture of the impact, with the front section of the vehicle completely crushed beneath the rear of the lorry.
The accident attracted the attention of motorists and other road users, with many wondering how the accident occurred.
Following the incident, a major traffic snarl-up was experienced along the busy highway as traffic police officers rushed to the scene to manage the situation and restore the flow of vehicles.
Emergency responders also arrived at the scene and rescued the driver from the wreckage before rushing him to hospital for specialized treatment. His condition was reported to be critical.
