President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet has hit back at critics who have questioned his educational background, after an emotional reunion with one of his former teachers in Kakamega County.
Kibet was speaking during the retirement ceremony of Chief Lenah Makanga in Chemuche Ward, Malava Constituency, when he introduced his former teacher, who was also attending the event.
The moment gave Kibet an opportunity to address claims that he did not receive a proper education.
He said the presence of his former teacher was proof that he went to school, challenging those who have repeatedly described him as a Class Six dropout.
Kibet also recalled his school days, including occasions when the teacher caned him for various mistakes. However, he said the discipline helped shape him into the person he is today.
He then turned to the congregation and asked whether he should reward his former teacher for the role she played in his life.
The crowd responded positively, prompting Kibet to announce that he would give her KSh20,000.
His announcement was met with cheers and applause from the congregation.
Kibet further used the occasion to challenge opposition leaders, saying Kenyans are looking for leaders who can help them improve their lives rather than politicians who divide them along tribal lines.
