Lyn Mengich who is the SRC Chair has made a major announcement amidst reports that SRC has increased salaries for civil servants. According to Mengich, the reports that they have increased salaries for civil servants or allowances is misleading and untrue.

Mengich has made it known that the allegations that they have in increased allowances is false. According to her, the government of president William Ruto is making serious austerity measures through treasury hence the issue of increasing allowances is in bad taste.
President Ruto has instead focused on ensuring that Civil servants do not go in five star hotels as well do not earn Imprest and per diem. This is all in the efforts to ensure that the debt issue in the country is addressed quickly and fast.
President Ruto has been at the forefront making it known that all Kenyans including civil servants must brace for tough moments. Civil Servants have suffered immensely under Ruto’s administration and it’s expected that they could suffer more.
