Sorrow has engulfed Moi University following the tragic death of a second-year student who is believed to have taken his own life.

The student, identified as Dickson Mutinda, was pursuing a Bachelor of Business Management (BBM) degree at the School of Business and Economics.

His sudden death has left fellow students, lecturers, and family members in deep shock and pain.

According to information from students, Mutinda was found dead under circumstances that police believe point to suicide.

A note said to have been written by the student was reportedly recovered at the scene.

In the message, he shared his deep emotional struggles and explained that he felt overwhelmed and exhausted.

In the note, the student wrote that he had reached a point where he could no longer continue fighting through his problems.

He said he had tried his best to stay strong and to push through the darkness in his life.

He explained that he had given all the strength he had but felt that he had nothing left to give.

Mutinda also asked his loved ones not to blame themselves for his decision. He said the love and care he received from them had helped him stay for as long as he did. He made it clear that his decision was not a sign that he did not love them, but a reflection of the pain he was carrying inside. He apologized for the sorrow his death would cause and expressed hope that one day his family and friends would remember the happy moments they shared instead of the pain of his loss.

The university community has been thrown into mourning, with students gathering in small groups to console one another.

Many described him as calm and focused on his studies. Some said they did not notice any clear signs that he was struggling.

University officials are yet to release a detailed public statement about the incident.

However, sources indicate that counseling services are being prepared to support students who may be affected by the tragedy.
