Radio presenter Mwalimu Rachel has spoken about the importance of fathers being actively involved in raising boys, saying a strong father-son relationship plays a major role in shaping character, discipline, and emotional wellbeing.
Speaking during an interview with media personality Alex Mwakideu on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Rachel explained that boys benefit greatly from spending time with their fathers, provided the father is responsible and non-abusive.
“A boy needs his father. I hope women understand when I say this. As long as he is not an abusive father and is a good parent to that child, it is very important for the boy to spend as much time with the father,” Rachel said.
She further stressed that male guidance is essential in the upbringing of boys, adding that when a biological father is absent, other positive male figures should step in to help mentor the child.
“I strongly believe a man is the one who can raise a boy properly. Sisi tutapambana na utachoka, utazeeka kabla miaka yako, utakuwa bitter, utakasirika. And if it is not the father, then other father figures like uncles or grandfathers should step in. There has to be that male presence in a boy’s life,” she added.
Rachel has previously been open about her co-parenting journey. Earlier, she revealed that she and her former partner had agreed on an arrangement where their son spends most of his time with his father, while she gets to have him during weekends.
