Kenyan singer-songwriter Sofiya Nzau has surpassed 750 million total streams on Spotify, according to aggregated streaming data and platform analytics tracking her catalogue and collaborations. Reports indicate the milestone makes her one of the most streamed East African artists on the platform, driven largely by the global success of her breakout hit “Mwaki” and its multiple remixes.

Spotify data shows “Mwaki,” a collaboration with Brazilian producer Zerb, leading Nzau’s catalogue with more than 396 million streams on the main version alone. Several remixes of the song — including Tiësto’s VIP mix and other alternate versions — have collectively added tens of millions of additional plays, pushing combined streams for the track beyond 520 million, according to streaming trackers.

Other songs in Nzau’s top-performing releases include “Wacuka,” which has accumulated over 122 million streams on Spotify, and “Your Love (Anddot Remix),” which has surpassed 66 million streams. “Kumbaya” has recorded more than 8.3 million streams, while “Away” has crossed over 6.9 million. “Digane,” another collaboration, has also registered more than 4.7 million plays on the platform, reflecting continued growth in her catalogue.

According to Spotify listings, Nzau currently attracts millions of monthly listeners globally, with “Mwaki” remaining her most popular track and a consistent presence on curated playlists. Platform data indicates the song’s viral growth helped introduce her vocals — delivered in Kikuyu — to international electronic and Afro-house audiences.

Streaming analysts attribute the rapid rise in total plays to the widespread remix culture around “Mwaki,” which has seen versions released by multiple international DJs. Sources said these remixes have extended the lifespan of the original song and significantly boosted cumulative streaming numbers across different releases.

Reports suggest her streaming numbers continue to grow as newer releases such as “Wacuka,” “Away,” and “Kumbaya” continue gaining traction across global playlists.
