According to Dr. Ouma Oluga, 32 survivors are at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital (JOOTRH). He urged Kenyans to donate blood to save lives.
A school bus from Naki AIC High School overturned at Mamboleo. The driver lost control near Coptic Church.
Eyewitness Jane Atieno said, “The bus was speeding, then it swerved.” She saw it plunge into a ditch.
Another witness, Peter Okoth, described the chaos. “People were screaming, trapped inside,” he recalled.
The crash happened Friday evening at a known danger spot. Emergency teams rushed to the scene quickly.
Kisumu County sent four ambulances to help. All injured were admitted within three hours.
Dr. Oluga praised the hospital’s fast response. He confirmed counseling for victims’ families.
A blood drive is set for Saturday at Leresian Park. It starts at 9:00 a.m. (asubuhi [morning]).
Nyanza traffic officer Peter Maina reported 21 died instantly. Ten men, ten women, and a girl were among them.
The bus carried mourners from Sigoti Clan in Nyakach. It was heading from Kakamega to Kisumu.
Police are investigating the driver’s actions. They recovered belongings from the crash site.
The Ministry of Interior will assist families. They aim to support those grieving.
Authorities urged drivers to be cautious. The highway is known for frequent accidents.
Medical teams are working around the clock. JOOTRH remains the main treatment center.
