Friday, the 11th of April, was indeed an emotional day for celebrated Kenyan Gospel singer Ruth Matete.
This is because it was on the exact same day that she lost her beloved Nigerian husband Pastor John Apewajoye, albeit in 2020.
Being the 5th anniversary of his death, the ‘Mapenzi’ hit maker took to her Instagram account and celebrated it in style.
Ruth Matete actually shared a short video clip that captured how the daughter they sired together Reyna Toluwa, was proud of the fact that she was going to be 5-years-old soon.
The talented singer, who now lives in Canada, then accompanied the video with a heartwarming caption, where she paid tribute to her late husband.
Even though Ruth Matete clearly missed the late Pastor John Apewajoye, she was still grateful for the baby that he gave to her.
“A day like this (April 11th), I lost my daughter’s father. My husband. Its been 5 years. Seems like yesterday though 🥹.
Pastor John, your little girl will be 5 years in October. Even though she says Octonber 🥰 She may look like me but her personality is definitely yours 🙂. Well, maybe not all of it. She’s dramatic like her mum 🙈.
Thank you for giving me the best 4 years of Mt life. Continue resting in peace 🙂🥹🥰” Ruth Matete said.
It can be remembered that the late Pastor John Apewajoye passed away in April 2020 after succumbing to the burns that he got following a gas explosion incident, that happened in their house at Great Wall Gardens Estate in Athi River.
The accident actually happened on March 30, 2020, but it was so fatal that the late Nigerian man experienced multiple organ failure that led to his death.
At the time of his death, Pastor John Apewajoye had been married to Ruth Matete for just 4 months and she was pregnant with Reyna Toluwa.
