Gospel-singer-turned-ohangla artist Kevin Okuna, popularly known as Kaka Talanta, has expressed gratitude after surviving a road accident with his band.

The group was travelling to Kisumu for a scheduled event when their journey was cut short by the crash. Their van, which carried the singer and his crew, was badly damaged in the incident, but all passengers escaped without injuries.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Kaka Talanta described the morning ordeal as frightening but said they were thankful to be alive. He also shared photos and a short video showing the mangled vehicle, which left fans deeply worried.

“It is a very sad morning for us. On our way to Kisumu, our band’s van got involved in an accident. We want to thank God for protecting us. We are all alive,” he wrote, adding that he appreciated the many calls and messages of support.

The Luo singer, who has built a loyal fan base after successfully transitioning from gospel to ohangla, said the incident was a reminder of the unpredictability of life on the road.

His post attracted hundreds of reactions, with fans and fellow musicians flooding the comment section with words of encouragement and thanksgiving.

Although the accident caused significant damage to their van, the band confirmed that their instruments and equipment were largely intact. They also assured their fans that upcoming shows would continue as planned.

The near-tragedy has sparked a fresh conversation about the safety of musicians and entertainers who often spend long hours travelling to perform in different towns. For Kaka Talanta, the survival of his team has left him counting blessings rather than losses.
