Pastor Victor Kanyari has spoken candidly about the emotional strain surrounding his relationship with his children following the death of their mother, gospel singer Betty Bayo.
The outspoken preacher revealed that the children have recently shown signs of hostility toward him, a change he admits has left him confused and concerned.
While addressing his congregation, Kanyari said that since Betty Bayo’s passing, his sons’ attitude toward him has noticeably shifted. He questioned whether the hostility was a natural response to grief or whether external influence could be playing a role. Despite the tension, Kanyari maintained that he understands the children are still processing the loss of their mother and requires patience.
The preacher reiterated his commitment to being present in his children’s lives, insisting that he has continued to provide for them emotionally and materially. He shared that he recently spent time with the children and bought them clothes, saying his actions demonstrate his responsibility as a father, regardless of the challenges they are facing.
Kanyari also confirmed plans to take full custody of the children from their stepfather, Hiram “Tash” Gitau. He disclosed that he has secured a new mansion in Runda, where he intends to live with the children once custody arrangements are finalized. According to him, the delay in taking custody was due to legal and personal considerations, but he now feels the time is right.
His remarks have sparked mixed reactions online. While some netizens sympathized with his desire to reconnect with his children, others criticized him for discussing sensitive family matters publicly. As the debate continues, many Kenyans remain keenly interested in how the situation will unfold and what lies ahead for the children’s future.
