The new ODM party Secretary General Catherine Omanyo should have every reason to be worried in her quest for a second straight term in office as Busia County Women Representative.
Though she is now the ODM party Secretary General after the ouster of Nairobi City County senator Edwin Sifuna, back at home, Omanyo is facing the biggest test of her political career as her predecessor Florence Mutua aims to send her home come the 2027 general election.
Mutua held the position for one full decade before opting not to defend the seat in 2022. This gave Omanyo the opportunity to shine after clinching the seat on an ODM party ticket.
And now, the two political heavyweights are expected to face off in 2027. Mutua is eyeing a third term as Omanyo aims to make it two. Who will blink first? Can the ODM party SG survive the onslaught?
