Junior officer

A junior police officer stationed in Kimilili has been found dead in what authorities suspect to be a suicide.

The officer reportedly died from a single gunshot wound to the head, with the circumstances surrounding the incident still unclear. The incident took place inside the officer’s house within the police residential area.

According to reports from fellow officers, a gunshot was heard from his house, prompting them to investigate. Upon arrival, they discovered his body on the floor with his service firearm lying beside him.

Detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene to begin investigations. The area was processed for forensic evidence, after which the body was moved to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

According to colleagues, the officer lived alone and had not exhibited any signs of emotional or psychological distress in the days leading up to his death. His behavior had appeared normal, making the incident even more puzzling to those who knew him.

Kimilili police boss confirmed the incident and stated that investigations are underway to uncover what may have led to the officer taking his own life. At this stage, no clear motive has been identified.

This case adds to a rising number of suicide-related deaths within the police service. Security experts and mental health advocates have linked many of these cases to the stressful nature of police work, calling for better support systems for officers.
