Residents of Mirema Drive in Nairobi were left in shock after the death of 21‑year‑old Brian Kipngetich under disturbing circumstances.
Reports indicate that Kipngetich jumped to his death from an apartment building after an alleged assault earlier that night.
Witnesses said he had returned home appearing intoxicated, then left again to continue drinking. When he came back later, he had visible injuries on his face.
Security guards at the apartment stated that Kipngetich claimed he had been attacked by a group of women at an unknown location.
He appeared distressed and repeatedly expressed anger and embarrassment over the incident. After speaking briefly with the guards, he went to his third‑floor house where his girlfriend was present.
Inside, he complained about the assault, saying he could not live with the shame of being beaten by women. He later left to seek medical attention at a nearby clinic. After treatment, he returned to the building.
Moments later, Kipngetich stepped out and jumped from the upper floor. Police reports show he landed headfirst on the ground floor staircase and died instantly from the impact.
Authorities were alerted and arrived quickly to assess the situation. His body was later taken to a mortuary as investigations began.
Police are now working to establish the full circumstances of the alleged assault and the events that led to the young man’s death.
