A devastating fire broke out early Saturday morning, June 14, 2025, at Barnabas Stage in the Pipeline area of Nakuru County, following a fuel tanker explosion.
The explosion ignited multiple fuel tankers, resulting in a massive blaze that rapidly engulfed the vehicles and posed a serious threat to nearby areas.
Emergency response teams were promptly on the scene, working tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. Despite the scale of the inferno, initial reports indicate that no casualties have been recorded, though investigations into the exact cause of the explosion are ongoing
The fire caused significant disruption by shutting down the busy Nakuru–Nairobi Highway, rendering it impassable for several hours. This closure led to major traffic congestion, forcing motorists to seek alternative routes to avoid the affected area.
Authorities issued advisories urging travelers to avoid the highway until the situation was brought under control and the road cleared.
