Tension is rising in Kiambaa after residents staged protests against their Member of Parliament, John Njuguna Wanjiku, accusing him of links to the violent chaos witnessed during the July 16, 2026, Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
The angry residents took to the streets carrying placards with messages criticizing the MP, declaring they would not tolerate what they described as “goon MP.”
Chanting and waving signs, the protesters insisted that leaders linked to violence have no place in public office.
The demonstrations come in the wake of serious allegations that the Kiambaa MP was involved in facilitating the transportation and coordination of masked individuals who disrupted the by-election.
However, the MP has strongly denied the claims. He dismissed the accusations as politically motivated, maintaining that he was in Ol Kalou on a legitimate mission.
“I wouldn’t have used my official car if I had gone to cause chaos,” the MP stated, defending himself against the growing backlash.
Meanwhile, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has assured the public that the government will investigate the disturbing claims.
Murkomen warned that anyone found responsible for orchestrating the violence, regardless of their status, will face the full force of the law.
He emphasized that the National Police Service had deployed adequate security during the by-election but acknowledged that reports of hooded, armed individuals disrupting the process must be thoroughly probed.
