Matiangi and Samidoh

The picture, taken in the United States, showed the two standing outside a wooden building. Samidoh wore a smart coat and black trousers, while Matiang’i dressed in khaki pants and brown shoes. Their warm greeting has raised eyebrows, especially given the political season ahead of the 2027 elections.

Samidoh has recently been in the spotlight for more than just music. Trouble began after he made comments supporting President Ruto’s re-election during a visit to Deputy President Kindiki’s residence. But soon after, videos appeared online showing Samidoh chanting phrases linked to Ruto’s critics.

His bosses in the police service were not happy. He was quickly transferred from his post in Central Kenya to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit in Gilgil. Some saw this as punishment for mixing music, politics, and duty.

It didn’t stop there. The police also accused Samidoh of deserting his job after not reporting back on May 27. But he hit back with documents proving he was on official leave and had permission to travel.

Now, his meeting with Matiang’i – a known opposition figure – has fueled more debate. Some Kenyans wonder if Samidoh is eyeing a political seat.

While the singer remains quiet about the meeting, his US music tour continues. His concerts are scheduled in several cities including Houston, Dallas, and Seattle until mid-July.

As the photo spreads online, Kenyans are left asking: is Samidoh planning more than music? For now, he sings on – but his next move is anyone’s guess.
