The Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) is grieving the sudden death of one of its senior regional leaders, Mr. George Riba.
Riba, who served as the Kisumu branch manager, collapsed and died near Kisumu Specialist Hospital along the Kisumu-Kakamega highway during his routine morning run.
Eyewitnesses reported that Riba suddenly fell while jogging, and despite swift efforts to administer first aid, he was unresponsive. Medical personnel confirmed his death at the scene.
Police transferred the body to the nearby mortuary for a postmortem to determine the exact cause of death.
Riba was a respected figure in the media industry, having served KBC with dedication. Colleagues and friends described him as a hardworking and passionate leader who played a key role in strengthening the broadcaster’s presence in the region.
Mayienga FM, KBC’s regional radio station serving the Luo-speaking community, offered heartfelt condolences to Mr. Riba’s family and close friends. His death is a heavy blow to the media landscape in the region, where his influence was strongly felt through his commitment to local programming and mentorship of young journalists.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
