A third-year student at Multimedia University is crying for justice after an alleged attack by his girlfriend over the Valentine’s Day period.
Steve Godia is currently receiving treatment at a city hospital after he suffered serious burns to his face. The incident is reported to have taken place on the eve of Valentine’s Day at his residence.
According to a source familiar with the matter, Godia’s girlfriend, Gladwell Kagai, visited him at his house in an attempt to reconcile after the couple had experienced relationship problems.
The source said that Kagai wanted to know whether Godia was involved in a relationship with her former girlfriend. The two reportedly discussed the issue before going to sleep.
It is alleged that later in the night, while Godia was asleep, Kagai poured hot water on his face. The source further stated that after the alleged attack, she took his two mobile phones and transferred Ksh 300,000 from his account to herself, leaving only Ksh 7 in his bank account.
CCTV footage from the building reportedly shows Kagai running away shortly after the incident. She is said to be at large as police continue investigations.
Images shared on social media show Godia lying in a hospital bed with visible burns on his face. Those close to him say he is in pain and emotionally distressed. They added that he is appealing for justice and calling on authorities to take swift action.
