President William Ruto’s diplomatic trip to the United Kingdom took an unexpected turn after a Kenyan-Indian man momentarily breached security to snap a selfie with the Head of State. The incident occurred during a town hall meeting with Kenyans living in the UK, drawing mixed reactions from the public.
Ruto is currently in London as part of an extended foreign tour aimed at cementing bilateral ties, pursuing investment partnerships, and rallying support for Kenya’s reform agenda on global financial structures. His visit follows key meetings in Spain where he engaged European leaders on trade and development cooperation.
While addressing the diaspora in London, the president held a candid session that included a meet-and-greet. However, it was during this gathering that an overenthusiastic attendee suddenly stepped forward and took a selfie with the president without prior clearance from his security team.
The brief breach took many by surprise, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, who had been addressing the gathering at the time. Members of the president’s inner circle looked momentarily stunned, while the man returned to his seat without resistance or reprimand.
