President William Ruto has ordered the prosecution of an alleged police officer who was caught on camera shooting at peaceful protesters. This comes as part of the President’s effort to address the growing concerns over police brutality in Kenya.

During a live discussion on his social media platform X Space on Friday, July 5th, President Ruto spoke directly to the Kenyan people about this issue. He stated firmly, “The police officer who is roaming, I want the exact details of him, I will apprehend him and he will be dealt with according to the law.”

President called on Kenyans who have any information or evidence related to this incident, such as footage or photos, to come forward and share it with the nearest security office. He emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation, promising that stern action will be taken against the perpetrator if he is found guilty.

“Those with the footage, the pictures and other evidential materials, similarly share them with my inbox,” Ruto directed, underscoring his commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in the process.

This announcement from the President comes at a time when the country has been grappling with a series of incidents involving excessive use of force by law enforcement officials.

The alleged shooting incident, which was reportedly captured on video, has further fueled public outrage and concerns about the need for police reforms and the protection of citizens’ right to peaceful assembly.
