Ruth Matete

Kenyan gospel singer and pastor Ruth Matete has opened up about a personal lesson on gratitude, sharing how she overcame feelings of comparison in her motherhood journey while celebrating a major milestone in her daughter’s life.

In a heartfelt social media post, Matete revealed that she once struggled with comparing herself to other mothers who had completed raising their children at a younger age.

She explained that while many women had started families earlier, she welcomed her first child at the age of 34 something that initially made her question how different her life could have been if she had become a mother much earlier.

The singer admitted that she often found herself thinking about the children she never had instead of appreciating the daughter she had already been blessed with.

She later realized that those thoughts reflected a lack of gratitude and prevented her from fully embracing the gift of motherhood.

According to Matete, she made a conscious decision to change her mindset after remembering that many women around the world continue to pray for the opportunity to have even one child.

That realization helped her appreciate her own blessing and become content with the life she had instead of focusing on what she believed was missing.

Her message encouraged parents and other social media users to avoid comparing their lives with those of others.

She noted that life does not always unfold according to personal plans and that some circumstances cannot be changed.

In such situations, choosing gratitude and contentment can bring greater peace than dwelling on missed opportunities.

Matete also invited fellow mothers and members of the public to share moments when they realized they had been ungrateful or unkind to themselves or others and explain how they overcame feelings of guilt.

The conversation quickly attracted engagement from followers who related to her experience and praised her honesty.

Alongside her reflections,Matete celebrated a joyful family achievement by announcing that her daughter had successfully completed kindergarten.

She proudly shared that the young girl is now preparing to begin Grade 1 in September, marking another important milestone in her growth and education.
