The High Court of Kenya is expected to give a ruling on the deployment of over 1,000 police officers to Haiti in January. This is according to a statement that was released by the judiciary on Thursday afternoon.

The ruling happened just a few days after Parliament and the cabinet voted in favour of the deploy security officials who are expected to be deployed in January.

President William ruto has affirmed that the government is committed on ensuring that the security personnel are deployed to Haiti to and sure that the country return to normalcy after Gang members from different gang groups have taking over different towns in the country.

The opposition, on the other hand, is opposed to the move to send the security team to Haiti, saying that the country faces dangerous gangs and that the security of the Kenyan policemen is not guaranteed.

The cabinet secretary recently said that those who will be sent to Haiti are specialised units from the Kenya Police service.
