The banking sector is in mourning following the announcement of the passing of Mr. John Luusa, the first Managing Director of Postbank.
Mr. Luusa served as Managing Director from 1971 to 1988. During his 17 years at the helm, Luusa was a crucial member of Postbank’s leadership team. Under his guidance, the bank experienced remarkable growth, both in terms of market presence and customer engagement.
His strategic focus on increasing customer loans and deposits fueled a steady rise in the bank’s interest and non-interest income streams. These efforts helped Postbank secure a solid footing in a competitive market, expanding its reach and impact.
Beyond his role at Postbank, Mr. Luusa also contributed to the broader financial community as a member of the TelPosta Pension Scheme’s Board of Trustees.
News of his passing has been met with heartfelt tributes from colleagues, business associates, and community members alike. They describe him as a seasoned businessman and a leader who inspired generations.
The death of Luusa follows that of his wife, Irene Nthoki Luusa, who passed away earlier in January 2024.
As friends, family, and colleagues come to terms with this double loss, sincere condolences are extended to all who knew and loved Mr. Luusa. May they find strength and comfort in this difficult time.
