Police in Nakuru are investigating the death of Constable Hassan Lolkidid, who was shot and killed by his colleagues.

The deceased was part of a team investigating a suspected robbery, and the incident occurred when police opened fire on suspects who were offloading goods from a lorry.

Constable Hassan was found lying in a pool of blood, having been shot in the chest, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The four officers involved in the incident were arrested and detained after denying firing the shot. A judge ruled that they would be detained for 10 days

The officer’s death has sparked an outpouring of condolences from Kenyans on social media, with many thanking him for his service and calling for justice.

Kenyans are also urging the Independent Policing Oversight Authority to take over the case and ensure that the slain officer and his family receive justice.

Comment:

– “So he was shot and killed, and none of them opened fire? Unless he was shot by the suspects, if the police don’t link the ballistics to one of them, then they might have used another gun.” – Jane Njeri
