Content creator Kafengo has spoken out following the burial of his close friend and fellow comedian, Zakaria Kariuki, popularly known as KK Mwenyewe.
KK passed away on July 15 while receiving treatment at Thika Level 5 Hospital, leaving fans and friends in deep mourning. His funeral drew emotional tributes from family members, who remembered him as a hardworking and inspiring figure who left a lasting legacy.
In response to questions raised by the public regarding funeral contributions, Kafengo and the funeral committee treasurer came forward to share a full breakdown of the money raised and how it was used.
According to the committee, Kenyans donated a total of KSh 766,000 through TikTok live sessions and a memorial event held at Blue Springs Hotel.
From the total raised, KSh 563,000 was used to cover all burial expenses, including transport, coffin, food, and related logistics. The remaining KSh 203,000 will be handed over to KK’s mother to support the family.
The funeral committee also announced that KK’s personal filming equipment, including his iPhone and lighting gear, will be returned to his family.They called on supporters and fans to assist Kafengo and KK’s former content team in acquiring their own tools for content creation, as they are now left with nothing to continue their work.
Kafengo was praised widely for his transparency, loyalty, and genuine friendship—even in KK’s final days.
