A family in Kapsara, Kitale, is mourning the tragic death of their daughter, Lornah Chebet, who passed away in Saudi Arabia while working as a househelp.
Chebet had moved to Abha in search of a better life.Sadly, her life was cut short in a road accident while travelling with her employer, the employer’s husband, and their two children on their way to Riyadh.
According to reports shared by TikTok user Najran Chepkehi, the employer’s husband and one of the children died instantly at the scene of the crash.
Chebet, her employer, and the other child were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Despite efforts to save her, Chebet later succumbed to her injuries at Al-Muzahmiyya General Hospital.The four-year-old child also died and was taken to the same facility.
Back home, her family received the devastating news through social media.
Her sister, Mercy Jepkemoi, confirmed the incident in a tearful TikTok video, revealing that Chebet was their fourth-born among six siblings.
Jepkemoi expressed her heartbreak and prayed for strength as the family comes to terms with the loss.The family is now making arrangements to bring Chebet’s body back to Kenya for burial.
Many in her village have described her as a hardworking young woman who left home with hopes of supporting her loved ones.
The accident has left two families shattered, both in Saudi Arabia and in Kenya, as they mourn lives cut short in a journey that was meant to be ordinary but ended in tragedy.
