A private citizen is said to have shot and injured at least three people during the Mombasa demonstration against the finance bill.
The Star has received confirmation from a number of witnesses and law enforcement that someone fired close range shots at the protesters.
It is said that the demonstrators who had stopped business along Nyerere Road “angered” him.
