The family of former Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati has been thrown into mourning following the passing on of their father, Mzee Patrick Wangamati.
At the time of his death, Mzee Wangamati served as the chairman of the revered Luhya Council of Elders.
At one point in his distinguished service to the community, Mzee Wangamati served as a Nominated Member of Parliament during the reign of former President Daniel Arap Moi.
His son, Wycliffe served as Bungoma County Governor for one term following his election in 2017. He lost the seat to the man he had defeated five years earlier, Ken Lusaka, in 2022.
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka is one of those who have sent their condolence messages to the family of the late former legislator.
Wamboka described the late Wangamati as a community pillar even as he conveyed his condolence message to the family.
