Nairobi County’s Chief Environment Officer, Geoffrey Mosiria, has closed a notorious strip club in Pipeline Estate, Embakasi West, following repeated complaints from residents.
The club, located in the middle of a residential area, had caused concerns over noise and an unsafe environment for families. Mosiria visited the premises on August 15 with county officials to inspect the situation.
“In response to persistent complaints from residents, we have acted decisively, shut down operations, and issued strict warnings,” Mosiria said.
He added that further enforcement will follow to ensure similar businesses do not threaten the safety and well-being of the community. Mosiria stressed that the club exposed children to immoral behaviour right at their doorstep, affecting the peace and dignity of families.
Officials from the Planning and Public Health Departments joined Mosiria in the closure, issuing warnings to other operators of similar establishments. The action comes after the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) had already ordered the club to comply with noise control regulations in April.
“The intention is not to disrupt business but to ensure everyone follows existing laws,” Mosiria said.
NEMA has been actively cracking down on entertainment venues that generate excessive noise, especially in residential areas. The closure highlights Nairobi County’s commitment to protecting families and children from unsafe and disruptive environments.
Residents welcomed the action, saying it restores safety and peace to the neighbourhood. Many expressed relief that local authorities are taking steps against businesses that ignore community welfare.
