Kitale

Mary Biketi, partner to Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya, has spoken out following a chaotic incident that marred her foundation’s event in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County. The charity initiative, organized under the Mary Biketi Foundation, was disrupted by over 50 individuals who stormed the Kitale Museum where a modelling competition was underway.

The group, said to have emerged from a nearby informal settlement, caused significant damage. Vehicles were vandalized, phones snatched, and two models sustained minor injuries. The rear window of Biketi’s car was also shattered during the fracas. Security personnel quickly moved her to safety as police were called in to manage the situation.

Biketi has dismissed claims linking the incident to political rivalry. She reiterated that her foundation’s focus remains rooted in youth and women empowerment, not politics. The event was part of a series of community outreach programs the foundation has been rolling out across the region.

The Kitale disruption occurred amid rising public attention on Biketi, who has recently increased her visibility through county tours and charitable engagements.

Branded convoys and roadside speeches during these visits have sparked speculation about a possible political bid. Her recent tour in Trans Nzoia drew notable crowds and featured organized mobilization, raising eyebrows among local observers.

This isn’t the first time Biketi has had to address public interest in her private and professional life. In past interviews, she emphasized her independence and personal contribution to her ventures.
