Eric Omondi, a well-known comedian, made headlines earlier this year when he promised to help Faith Kathambi, a woman who was assaulted over a packet of unga.
After the shocking incident, Omondi vowed to build her a house and support her as she rebuilt her life.
However, Faith’s situation has not improved, and she has returned to her village in Kisii feeling empty-handed and financially strained.
Faith had hoped that Omondi’s promise would lead to a fresh start. Unfortunately, her reality is quite different.
She is currently struggling to make ends meet, and her husband, who lives in Meru, is also facing financial difficulties and cannot help her or their family.
The hope she once had in Eric Omondi’s commitment is slowly fading away.
According to Faith, the house that Omondi promised her remains unfinished.
The workers, known as fundis, have not been paid, leaving an outstanding balance of over 170,000 shillings.
Faith has tried many times to reach out to Eric Omondi to get updates on the situation, but she says her calls have gone unanswered.
To make matters worse, a video that circulated earlier showed what seemed to be a completed house, but Faith claims this was misleading.
The video only focused on a small part of the structure, while most of the house is still not finished. This has left Faith feeling even more disappointed.
For a woman who had placed all her hopes in Eric Omondi’s goodwill, the current situation is heartbreaking. She trusted that his public promise to support her would lead to a better life, but now she feels abandoned and let down.
