Popular Radio 47 presenter Mbaruk Mwalimu has been forced to clarify a controversial statement that he recently made, that elicited an uproar from a section of Kenyans.
The talented radio personality had actually advised men out there to avoid marrying single mothers at all costs, while speaking in one of his shows.
According to Mbaruk Mwalimu, if you are a man, then the only time that you should consider marrying a single mother is if it is an emergency.
Mbaruk Mwalimu clarifies his statement
From the comment section, it is clear that some Kenyans felt like Mbaruk Mwalimu had a thing against single mothers or he did not respect them.
However this is not true because the Radio 47 presenter actually respects them.
Mbaruk Mwalimu made this clear while responding to one Facebook user by the moniker of Poetess Mercy Karithi, who had also slammed him for making such a statement.
Poetess Mercy Karithi, who is also a single mother, felt like Mbaruk Mwalimu was just heartless because he did not consider the reason why a woman becomes a single mother.
She further disclosed that in her case, she was forced to become a single mother because she was in a toxic relationship with her baby daddy, and therefore she could not just stay there.
“Stop being heartless, this speech si really bad coming from someone I respect kama wewe mbaruk…okey take my example. I because a single mother because I was in an abusive and toxic relationship…is that my fault that I fell in the wrong hands and wrong marriage…Then incase the father is dead…that means we should life single forever…there is nothing like emergency when it comes to marriage. Kama ukona issue na single mother heal” she said.
In his response, Mbaruk Mwalimu said that if a woman became a single mother because she was running from an abusive relationship, then that is understandable.
The Radio 47 presenter however maintained his stance because he felt like some single mothers normally still have feelings for their baby daddies, and therefore the two of them can cheat on you if you decide to marry the single mother.
“With all due respect, naheshimu sana single mothers. Mtu aliyeondokewa na mume ni mjane (Widow) not categorized as single mum. Sorry for your predicaments, if you were in an abusive relationship that’s a different concern altogether. Shida ni ati mkitoka kwa hiyo ndoa na muolewe Tena huyo abusive husband hurudi na aslimia kubwa bado hucheat nao. It happens” Mbaruk Mwalimu told Poetess Mercy Karithi.
