Mary Nyachae passed away on Wednesday morning at MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi after a prolonged battle with cancer, according to family sources.
She had been receiving treatment for several weeks before succumbing to the illness.
Mary was a respected figure in business circles, having served as a member of the Commodities Board of Trustees. Her passing marks yet another loss for the prominent Nyachae family, coming four years after the death of her father, former Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae, in February 2021.
In 2022, Mary briefly made headlines after a court ordered the auction of her property to recover a Ksh750,000 debt owed to a Nairobi lawyer.
The case, filed at the Small Claims Court, stemmed from a dispute over unpaid medical expenses, with the court allowing auctioneers to enter her residence on Dennis Pritt Road under police supervision.
Friends, colleagues, and members of the public have continued to send messages of sympathy to the Nyachae family, remembering Mary for her grace, kindness, resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
