The Kenya Meteorological Department (Kenya Met) has warned residents in various parts of the country to brace themselves for a week of heavy winds and sporadic rain. The organisation identified several counties that are likely to see wet and windy conditions, even if the majority of the region is predicted to stay sunny and dry.

Between Tuesday, December 2, and Saturday, December 6, showers are predicted for counties like Nairobi, Kiambu, Marsabit, Meru, Makueni, and Machakos. Strong south-easterly winds above 25 knots (12.5 m/s) may also have an impact on Turkana and Marsabit counties.

According to the forecast, Nairobi and its surrounding areas will see bright days on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by cloudy evenings and afternoon or evening rains on Saturday. Minimum temperatures could fall to 5°C, while maximum temperatures are predicted to reach 29°C.

Throughout the week, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, and the interior Tana River are expected to see sporadic showers and temperatures between 15°C and 34°C. Daylong rains with highs of 33°C and lows of 23°C are possible in coastal counties including Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale.

The weather in western and some central counties, including as Kisumu, Siaya, Trans Nzoia, and Nakuru, is expected to be generally bright, while there may be sporadic showers from Thursday through Saturday afternoons.
