The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a new weather update warning of continued rainfall in several parts of the country. The advisory released on Sunday, November 2, urges residents to stay alert and take precautionary measures as the rains persist.
According to the forecast, the Highlands west of the Rift Valley including Kakamega, Bungoma, Kisumu, Kericho, and Elgeyo Marakwet will experience showers and thunderstorms through Monday afternoon. Kenya Met cautioned that the rains could intensify in some regions, raising the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.
In the eastern highlands covering Nairobi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Embu, and Meru, residents should expect cloudy mornings followed by light rains in some places. The weather is expected to clear into sunny intervals later in the day, providing short periods of warmth.
For the North Western and North Eastern regions including Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Garissa, Mandera, Wajir, and Isiolo, partly cloudy conditions and sunny intervals will prevail. Kenya Met also warned of strong southeasterly winds exceeding 25 knots and urged caution among residents and travelers.
The South Eastern lowlands including Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Taita Taveta, and Kajiado will remain mostly sunny with light clouds at night. Along the Coast, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Tana River counties are expected to receive light morning showers followed by sunny afternoons.
Temperature readings show that Nairobi will experience highs of 23 degrees Celsius and lows of 15 degrees, while Mombasa will record highs of 29 degrees and lows of 24 degrees. The department assured the public of continuous updates to help them plan and stay safe during the ongoing rains.
