The Kenya Meteorological Department has advised residents in several parts of the country to prepare for increased rainfall this week.
In its weekly weather update, the department said that heavy rains are expected in Nairobi, Kiambu, Murang’a, Mombasa, Kwale, Nakuru, and Machakos counties between Tuesday, November 11, and Saturday, November 15.
According to the forecast, residents in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi counties should expect daylong showers during the period.
The weatherman also noted that temperatures in these areas will range from a high of 30°C to a low of 7°C, meaning mornings and nights will be quite chilly despite the rain.
In the eastern parts of the country specifically Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta, as well as the inland areas of Tana River residents should expect light to moderate rainfall during the day and night for most of the week.
These regions, however, will experience slightly warmer conditions, with maximum temperatures of up to 34°C and minimum temperatures of 14°C.
Meanwhile, the western parts of Kenya, including Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot counties, will experience rainfall and thunderstorms on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons and nights.
Despite the rain, sunny intervals are expected to dominate during the day on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning, as well as throughout Saturday.
Temperatures in these areas will range between 31°C during the day and 9°C at night.
