Several parts of Kenya are expected to receive rainfall between Saturday, August 15 and Wednesday, August 19, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.
The weather forecast shows that parts of Central, Eastern, Rift Valley, Western Kenya and the Lake Victoria Basin could receive light to moderate showers during the five-day period.
In Nairobi, residents can expect sunny intervals on Saturday, followed by cloudy and sunny conditions in the mornings from Sunday to Wednesday. Afternoons will generally remain sunny, while nights are expected to be partly cloudy.
Temperatures in the capital are forecast to range between 24°C and 28°C during the day. Night temperatures could fall to 9°C on Sunday.
In Central and Eastern Kenya, Kiambu, Murang’a, Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Machakos, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Meru are expected to experience cool and cloudy weather at different times.
Nyandarua is likely to record some of the lowest temperatures, with the mercury falling to 8°C. The county could also receive light showers in the afternoons throughout the period.
Nyeri may receive light rainfall over the weekend and early next week, with temperatures ranging between 9°C and 23°C.
Kiambu could experience light showers on Sunday afternoon, while temperatures may fall to 11°C. Machakos is expected to have cloudy and sunny mornings, with daytime temperatures reaching between 23°C and 27°C.
Light rainfall is also possible in Embu and Tharaka-Nithi, mainly during some mornings and nights.
In the Rift Valley, Nakuru is expected to receive moderate showers on Monday afternoon. West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo-Marakwet may also receive light showers.
Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega and Vihiga are likely to experience afternoon showers from Sunday through Wednesday.
Narok could receive light afternoon showers on Sunday and Monday, with more rainfall expected on Wednesday.
The Lake Victoria Basin will also see some rainfall. Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori and Kisii are expected to receive light afternoon showers from Monday.
Northern and northeastern Kenya will remain mostly hot and sunny. Mandera is expected to record temperatures of up to 37°C between Saturday and Monday.
Garissa and Wajir could reach 35°C, although both counties may receive light rain on Monday. Wajir could also receive another round of light rainfall on Wednesday.
Turkana will remain hot, with daytime temperatures expected to reach between 35°C and 37°C. Light rain and showers are possible on Sunday.
At the Coast, Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu are expected to receive occasional morning showers.
Mombasa will record temperatures of between 29°C and 30°C, while Taita-Taveta is expected to remain mostly sunny. Tana River could receive light rain on Wednesday.
The forecast gives residents, farmers and motorists an indication of the weather expected across the country as Kenya moves into the five-day period.
