Raila Odinga has finally addressed swirling rumors about his health, putting an end to days of speculation.
In a phone call with his communications director, Philip Etale, on Tuesday, the ODM Party politician dismissed the viral sickness reports as “propaganda” spread by his detractors.
“I am jovial and happy,” Raila reportedly said, urging Kenyans to pray for those fueling the misinformation rather than engaging in division.
The rumors intensified after Raila’s recent absence from public events, with some alleging he was gravely ill.
ODM has pointed fingers at rivals like Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka, accusing them of using AI-generated images to amplify the narrative.
Etale shared Raila’s greetings with supporters on X, promising his return in a few days.
The statement comes amid a broader debate about secrecy around African leaders’ health, a topic reignited by past cases like those of John Pombe Magufuli.
Magufuli disappeared from the public domain for so long, but his inner circle kept on saying he was well when Tanzanians questioned his whereabouts. Later, his death was announced.
