Radio Jambo presenter Joe Gidi, popularly known as Gidi Ogidi, was noticeably absent from the Patanisho show on Thursday after falling ill.

The veteran broadcaster normally hosts the popular programme alongside former Harambee Stars coach Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee. The pair have worked together for more than 15 years, becoming one of Kenya’s most recognised radio partnerships.

Patanisho is known for helping couples facing disagreements and relationship challenges find common ground and resolve their differences. However, listeners were treated to a different experience when Mulee hosted the programme without his longtime co-host.

Gidi later revealed the reason behind his absence, explaining that he was battling laryngitis, a condition that affects the voice and can make speaking difficult.

The presenter shared the health update on his Facebook page with a brief message mentioning “Laryngitis,” confirming to his followers that his absence was due to illness.

His announcement quickly attracted reactions from fans and fellow social media users, many of whom expressed concern and sent him messages wishing him a speedy recovery.

Gidi has built a strong following throughout his broadcasting career, with his partnership with Mulee becoming a familiar feature for Radio Jambo listeners. Their chemistry and approach to handling relationship disputes have helped make Patanisho one of the station’s popular programmes.

Although his absence left Mulee to handle the show alone, listeners are hopeful that Gidi will recover soon and return to the airwaves.

The presenter’s temporary absence has once again highlighted the strong connection he has developed with his audience over the years through his work in Kenyan radio.
