Samuel Muchoki,a popular mugithi singer known by his stage name Samidoh, has officially resigned from the National Police Service after 12 years of service.
On July 20, Inspector -General Douglas Kanja accepted Samidoh ‘s resignation. In his letter ,he cited personal reasons to focus entirely on his flourishing music career.
The resignation effectively ends ongoing plans by the police service to charge Samidoh with desertion. The charge stemmed from his failure to report to a new posting in Baringo after being transferred there.Istead, he took leave and flew to the United States.
Samidoh’s Policing career had been on shaky ground for years. He had repeatedly clashed with his superiors as he joined fans in chanting “wantam” a slogan popular with president Ruto’s critics.
The incident was deemed a breach of police rules against political involvement and led to his transfer to the Anti-Stock Theft Unit in Gilgil.
Samidoh will now pour his full energy into his music.
