Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata has warned that the UDA party is slowly losing its ground in the Mt Kenya region.
He predicted that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in the Mt Kenya region, will not serve as a viable political entity in the upcoming 2027 election.
The first-time member of the Council of Governors (CoG) recently declared his departure from the party, asserting that it lacks potential in the region due to the current political climate.
He believes that campaigning on a UDA platform would equate to political self-sabotage, which led to his choice to leave.
In his evaluation, Kang’ata observed that the ruling party no longer connects with the Mt Kenya voters, pointing to various reasons, such as the impeachment of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua
It is well known that Gachagua’s impeachment was widely seen as Ruto’s act of betrayal, along with unmet campaign commitments to the Mt Kenya residents.
