Political Analyst Reveals How Karua Is Slowly Making Gachagua & Ichung’wah Irrelevant In Mt Kenya

Macharia Munene, a political analyst and pundit, has stated that three political forces are being driven by a sense of desperation stemming from the growing belief that things are not going well, especially in the Mountain.

Mr. Munene claims that these are the remnants of the old GEMA, the undercurrents of Rigathi Gachagua, and the Martha Karua-connected Limuru III movement.

Munene asserts that there is no subtlety in Karua’s or the deputy president’s (DP) bids to lead the Mountain in August 2022. He points out that Ms. Karua faced Daniel arap Moi in the 1980s in an attempt to start a movement and acquire political fighting expertise.

Unlike Mr. Gachagua, Moi’s student in dealing with government opponents, is attempting to deal with those who are challenging his authority at the moment.

He says that Gachagua attempted to win over non-UDA supporters and even begged his detractors to follow him as well, but his strategy backfired. The appeals were meant to exert pressure on those who were hesitant to embrace his leadership by portraying opponents as irrational.

Macharia Munene commented that the situation has become more challenging for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, especially with Martha Karua and Jeremiah Kioni organizing the Limuru III movement. According to Munene, Limuru has historically been associated with significant political decisions. For example, Limuru I in 1966 aimed to remove Oginga Odinga from the ruling party Kanu, and Limuru II in 2012 was to endorse and launch Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidential campaign.

Munene believes that Limuru III is distinct in that it poses a threat to Gachagua and Kimani Ichung’wah, making them less relevant due to the prevailing disappointment and dissatisfaction in the Mt. Kenya region.

“Limuru III is different, scares Gachagua and Ichung’wah, and renders both irrelevant to a force derived from prevailing disappointment and unhappiness in the Mountain. Not there to anoint anyone, the movement provides a venting forum.” Alleged Macharia Munene.

He said unlike previous gatherings, this movement is not about endorsing a candidate but rather serves as a platform for expressing grievances.
