Detectives are looking into how suspected goons infiltrated Monday’s fuel protests in Kitengela town, Kajiado County.
Police allege that the individuals were secretly brought into the area during the night ahead of the demonstrations.
According to investigators, the suspected goons arrived in four unmarked Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) before dawn, prior to protests that had been organised over the rising cost of fuel.
Authorities believe the operation may have been planned and carefully coordinated.
The infiltration reportedly sparked chaos that disrupted transport services, with businesses and matatus suffering major losses.
As the unrest escalated, widespread looting was reported, leaving residents and traders counting significant damage.
Police have since stepped up investigations to identify the owners of the unmarked PSVs and determine who funded and organised the alleged operation.
Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage and collecting witness statements to establish exactly what happened.
