Police in Vihiga have launched investigations after an officer allegedly shot and killed his colleague while on duty at the government fertiliser depot in Esirabe, Luanda.

The suspect is now on the run as security agencies intensify their pursuit.

According to Luanda Sub-County Police Commander Richard Siele, the deceased officer, Nicholas Samoei, died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The suspect, identified as Kevin Omondi, had initially claimed that Samoei shot himself, before switching off his phone and disappearing.

The body has since been moved to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital mortuary, as police appeal to the public for information to help track down the fugitive officer.
