Yaya Toure has hit the headlines with a photo of him shaking hands with by then his manager Pep Guardiola after being substituted in a match. The viral photo had captions all over the internet that his agent, Dimitri Seluk had lifted the African curse on the Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola.
“I can say that the spell has now been lifted by the shamans and I think Man City will win the UCL under Pep Guardiola. Whatever happens they will definitely win it in the next three years.” Said Dimitri Seluk, Yaya Toure’s agent.
He further added, “Do you remember when I criticized Man City for not giving Yaya a cake on his birthday? Well it is my birthday this month and my present is for this curse to be ended. In fact, it is my hope that Man City win the Treble this season. I want to apologize for this matter. I think it is time for this bitterness to stop and I know that Yaya Touré feels the same because he wishes nothing but success for Man City.” Concluded the Monaco-based agent.
Yaya Toure wasn’t happy with the sentiments and he replied through his Twitter handle, “My former agent is being quoted by the media about a ‘curse’. Please don’t associate me with this nonsense and lazy stereotypes about African curses! Yaya tweeted.
Yaya Toure further urged the media to stop giving airtime to Seluk. “Media… move on please. This man does not represent me in any way. Amplifying these stereotypes is harmful!” advised Toure who left the club in 2018 and now he is working as tactical staff with London bases club, Tottenham Hotspurs.
