Tension is quietly building in Kiambu politics as debate swirls around whether Pauline Njoroge should step forward and make a bold move for the Gíthúngúri parliamentary seat.
With MP Gathoni Wamuchomba accused of dragging her feet politically, insiders now argue that Pauline has a golden opening to step in and realign the constituency’s politics.
One heated online discussion captured the mood, with some voices suggesting that Pauline should ditch the limping Jubilee Party and ride under the banner of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) to stake her claim .
Jubilee, once a giant in Mt Kenya politics, now sits in political purgatory. Many of its former loyalists are either crossing to the Broad-Based Government or waiting in silence for the next wave. For Pauline, tying her future to the troubled party could mean getting stuck in the same indecisive loop as Wamuchomba.
Supporters of the Democracy for Citizens Party argue that a fresh brand, untainted by Jubilee’s internal wars, would give Pauline a clean slate to speak directly to the youth and women voters who feel left out. It would also position her as a bold alternative voice in Gíthúngúri, something the constituency has lacked since 2022.
Critics, however, point out that shifting camps is not as simple as it sounds. Aligning with DCP would demand both resources and grassroots mobilization, a tall order in a county where political loyalty changes with every market day. Still, they admit that her strong online presence and sharp political mind could give her an edge if she made the leap.
For now, Pauline remains tied to Jubilee’s shaky wagon, a move some read as loyalty, while others call it misplaced patience. The big question is whether she will keep waiting for Jubilee to resurrect, or grab the moment and test her chances with a bolder strategy.
