New Life Prayer Centre and Church founder Pastor Ezekiel Odero has shared a personal family experience involving his daughter during her time in high school, saying it influenced one of the biggest decisions he made as a parent.
Speaking during an interview in Tanzania the preacher claimed that his daughter became exposed to same sex relationships after joining a boarding school where, according to him some students were already involved in such relationships. He said the experience deeply affected her and eventually led him to transfer her to another school.
Pastor Ezekiel explained that his daughter regularly spoke to him whenever she returned home for school holidays.
According to him,she would express discomfort with the environment at the school and tell him that some girls wanted to have a romantic relationship with her.
He said she sought his guidance on how to handle the situation as she struggled to cope with what she was experiencing.
The preacher also alleged that the school dormitories lacked proper privacy because the doors could not be locked.
He claimed this created opportunities for students to enter other rooms freely, making some learners uncomfortable while dressing or preparing to bathe. He said these conditions increased his concern about his daughter’s wellbeing.
According to Pastor Ezekiel,he initially advised his daughter to remain strong and make wise decisions while at school.
However, after she reportedly told him that she no longer wanted to continue learning in that environment, he decided to move her to another institution where she could continue her education comfortably.
The preacher also shared his personal belief that same sex relationships and drug abuse are spiritual matters.
His remarks have sparked widespread discussion on social media with many Kenyans debating parenting, peer influence and the challenges young people face while in boarding schools.
Others urged parents to maintain open communication with their children so they can freely discuss sensitive issues affecting their lives.
The revelation quickly attracted mixed reactions online. While many supporters praised Pastor Ezekiel for listening to his daughter and taking action after hearing her concerns, others disagreed with his views on same sex relationships.
The discussion has continued to generate debate across different social media platforms as Kenyans share varying opinions on parenting, faith and the experiences of students in school environments.
